KYC Update Scam
Method: Asking OTP for KYC update in bank/wallet name
Target: All bank and UPI users

Warning Signs: Numbers not starting with +91, immediate OTP demand
Relative Scam
Method: "Dad/Mom's phone is dead" type messages
Target: Family members, especially elderly

🛒 E-commerce & Online Shopping Scams
Fake Website Scam
Creating Amazon/Flipkart clone websites, luring with cheap prices. No delivery after payment or fake products.
Warning: Check domain name, look for SSL certificate
Gift Card Scam
Asking money in name of Amazon/Flipkart gift cards. "Buy gift card first, get offer later" lies.
Warning: Never share gift card numbers with anyone
Courier/Parcel Scam
Fake calls from postal/courier services asking money to release parcel. Usually demand ₹1,999, ₹2,499.
Warning: Postal department never asks money on phone
Refund Scam
Taking money from bank/UPI in name of refund for your order. False claims of investing in stock market/mutual funds.
Warning: Never give OTP/password for refund
Real Story - Mumbai 🇮🇳
Rajesh (42) received a call that his KYC is not updated and his bank account will be blocked. Scared, he shared his OTP. Within 15 minutes, ₹2,45,000 was withdrawn from his account. The bank confirmed they never ask for OTP.
Lesson: Never share OTP with anyone, whatever the reason.

RBI clearly states that no bank ever asks for password, PIN, OTP or CVV from customers.
💳 Credit/Debit Card Scams
Card Block Scam
Method: Fake call about card misuse/block, asking for details
Info Asked: Card number, CVV, expiry, OTP
Safety: Never share CVV/OTP
Skimming Device Scam
Method: Skimming device on ATM/POS machine to steal card details
Warning Signs: Loose keypad, extra device, no CCTV
Safety: Shake keypad, check cover
Credit Limit Increase Scam
Method: Asking fee/personal details to increase credit limit
False Promises: Limit increase in 24 hours, no CIBIL check
Reality: Bank never increases limit on phone
📱 UPI & Digital Payment Scams
QR Code Scam
Fake QR codes shown to receive payments. Shopkeepers/sellers get you to scan wrong QR code and money goes to their account.
Safety: Scan only trusted QR codes
Collect Request Scam
Sending collect requests to withdraw money. Message says "Accept this request" which people unknowingly accept.
Safety: Never accept collect requests from strangers
UPI ID Hacking
Hacking your UPI ID and sending requests to your contacts. "Please accept this request" type messages.
Safety: Never share UPI PIN, change password regularly

Pre-approved Loan Scam
Method: Fake pre-approved loan offers asking processing fee
False Promises: No CIBIL check, 1 hour loan
Reality: No legitimate bank asks advance fee
CIBIL Score Improvement Scam
Method: Taking money in name of improving CIBIL score
False Promises: Will increase 100 points in 7 days
Reality: CIBIL score improves only by timely payments
Personal Loan App Scam
Method: Creating fake apps offering instant personal loans
Method: Getting app download and all permissions
Loss: Data theft, account hacking, money theft
Real Story - Delhi 🇮🇳
Priyanka (28) got a call about ₹5 lakh pre-approved loan from HDFC Bank. She sent ₹15,000 as "processing fee". The number got switched off later. Police found it was a Kolkata-based scam with 200+ victims.
Lesson: Never pay upfront for loans. Legitimate banks never take advance fees.

90%+ "High Return" investment schemes are scams. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Reality: No prediction can be 100% accurate. Only SEBI registered advisors can give tips.
Fake PMS Service
Taking money in name of Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and disappearing. Promising 15-20% monthly returns.
Warning: Only SEBI registered PMS are legal. No guarantee of returns.
Fake Guaranteed Allotment
Taking money promising guaranteed IPO allotment. Claiming to have "insider sources".
Reality: IPO allotment is by lucky draw, no guarantee.
Real Story - Bangalore 🇮🇳
Amit (35) got a call about investing in a crypto coin that would 10x his money in 30 days. He invested ₹5 lakh. First week he was shown ₹20,000 "profit". Second week the website shut down. 2,000+ people lost over ₹100 crore in this scam.
Lesson: If an investment offer sounds too good, 99% chance it's a scam. Invest only through SEBI/IRDA registered agencies.
